Roast Notes from the Hollow

The Timberline Morning

Some mornings in the Hollow begin before the sun.

Before the trail wakes, before the fog lifts from the trees, and before the first bird dares to break the silence, there’s already a fire crackling somewhere in the timberline.

That’s where Squatch likes to start the day.

A battered kettle hangs close to the flames. Fresh beans wait in a burlap sack by the fire ring. The air smells like pine, woodsmoke, and coffee strong enough to put a little backbone into the morning.

Nobody knows exactly when Squatch became a roaster.

Some say it started after a long winter in the high country. Others claim he simply got tired of weak camp coffee and decided to do something about it. Squatch, of course, has never offered an explanation. He just pours the first cup, stares out at the mountains, and lets the brew speak for itself.

Timberline Morning is inspired by those quiet starts — the kind that feel earned. Bold, smooth, and grounded in the wild, it’s coffee for early risers, trail chasers, cabin thinkers, and anyone who believes the best part of the day begins with a strong cup and a little silence.

Because before the trail wakes,
the fire does.

Trailhead Rule #1

Squatch has one rule on the trail:
Never start the trail without a strong cup.

Before the boots hit the dirt and before the first switchback steals your breath, there’s a quiet moment at the trailhead when the fire is still low, the morning air is cold, and the coffee has to be just right.

That’s where Squatch begins.

He doesn’t rush the sunrise. He lets the kettle warm, the mug steam, and the first sip settle in before the day starts asking anything of him. Around here, coffee isn’t just part of the morning — it’s part of the ritual.

Some say Squatch once tried to hit the trail without it.

He made it halfway to the ridge, stopped cold, turned around, and marched straight back to camp without a word. Since then, the rule has been carved in stone... or at least in very firm backwoods tradition.

Trailhead Rule #1 is inspired by those early starts — the crisp air, the mountain silence, and the kind of coffee that wakes more than just your eyes. Bold, smooth, and made for the trail ahead, it’s brewed for hikers, wanderers, campfire thinkers, and anyone who knows the day goes better after the first strong cup.

Because in the Hollow, the trail can wait a minute.

The coffee can’t.
